Expressing sympathies and condolences with the victim families, Geelani said the police version about Kud firing incident is “not trustworthy because this institution has a very bad track record in such matters.”
Terming the killing of Bemina youth and a woman in Kud area of Udhampur district yesterday as “mysterious and doubtful”, the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday demanded a “thorough probe” into the incident by “some independent agency.”
Expressing sympathies and condolences with the victim families, Geelani said the police version about Kud firing incident is “not trustworthy because this institution has a very bad track record in such matters.”
Geelani urged human rights organizations to meet the slain youth’s family for their version.
“Indian forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir look at every Kashmiri with suspicion. They take it as their ‘national duty’ to harass and kill Kashmiris. So far thousands of Kashmiri youth have been killed in mysterious conditions and dubbed as militants for medals and rewards,” he said in a hard-hitting statement.
Meanwhile, Geelani strongly condemned detention of Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar and members Raja Mehraj-ud-din, Bilal Siddiqi, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed and others.
“Mehbooba Mufti-led state government has surpassed all previous records of muzzling peaceful voices of Kashmiri people. The state has been practically handed over to police and they want to silence every voice raised against the anti-people policies of the government,” he said.
He said the RSS and SanghParivar want to implement “their communal agenda” in Kashmir with force and the state government is “extending its every possible help to the commands from Nagpur (RSS headquarter).”
“Muslims, Pandits, pro-freedom leadership and civil society of Jammu and Kashmir are unanimously opposing construction of separate Pandit colonies but Mehbooba Mufti is adamant on creation of ‘transit accommodations’ for Pandits and shows no respect for the public voice,” Geelani said. “In bid to appease RSS, Mehbooba Mufti wants to slit throats of Kashmiri people and she can go to any extent for chair.”
Opposing Sainik Colonies in Kashmir, Geelani said most of ‘Sainik Quarters’ meant for retired forces personnel in Jammu have been “secretly sold by them and they are living at their native places.”
“Every retired serviceman after his retirement prefers to live at his native and ancestral home but the SanghParivar wants to accomplish their anti-Kashmir designs under the garb of these colonies. They want to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir and create safe zones for non-state subjects in the name of separate colonies. It is Israeli-pattern policy which they want to implement in Jammu and Kashmir,” Geelani said.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Hurriyat said police on Tuesday “launched a massive crackdown on pro-freedom people and detained scores of Hurriyat leaders and activists in different police stations and houses to foil the scheduled joint silent protest program of pro-freedom leadership on June 15.”
